iPhone 5s
I wonder if the iPhone 5s' digital fingerprint technology could be used by the government to subliminally fingerprint people.... Conspiracy? Lol

Not usually one for conspiracy theories but you have to wonder...

As much as they made it a point to say biometric data won't be stored in iCloud, it would be easily possible to do so and i wonder what future iOS jailbreaks will grant us access to.
Wager on how long it will take before headlines hit the papers.. "Apple leaks biometric data to US government" or "page 22410 of Apple EULA stipulates you consent to share your biometric finger print".. or something like that lol.. it'll happen eventually.

It specifies in my car insurance I'm not covered if I damage my car as a result of looting or rioting.
There's always a cause.
Plus with SSL there's no way to see what data' s being sent. So you won't know if they're telling the truth or not.

I'm not entirely sure that this is actually extremely easy to do, but the data is stored within the A7 chip. And what you're saying is really not quite likely or possible at all, though.
"iPhone 5s also includes a new advanced security architecture called the Secure Enclave within the A7 chip, which was developed to protect passcode and fingerprint data. Fingerprint data is encrypted and protected with a key available only to the Secure Enclave. Fingerprint data is used only by the Secure Enclave to verify that your fingerprint matches the enrolled fingerprint data. The Secure Enclave is walled off from the rest of A7 and as well as the rest of iOS. Therefore, your fingerprint data is never accessed by iOS or other apps, never stored on Apple servers, and never backed up to iCloud or anywhere else. "

if you are interested there's a lot of documentation about IOS of course from the development side of view.

Thought it was used by AppStore and iTunes apps to authorise purchases?landau wrote:http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/cons ... 2u8qf.html

on the client side, yes. it doesn't compare your fingerprint to a database of fingerprintsillicitBits wrote:Thought it was used by AppStore and iTunes apps to authorise purchases?landau wrote:http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/cons ... 2u8qf.html
